Paper Dresses: I Will Not Scream

A vintage pattern from the 1960s was used to create paper dresses from hospital gown paper. The set was screen printed with the words, "I will not scream until the minute hand reaches the twelve." The piece was inspired by stories about victims of torture who found ways to maintain agency when all control seemed to be stripped from them. Stacked on butcher paper, the medium and form suggest a relentless rhythm and the confines of sex, gender, and health.
